1. Introduction

Welcome to Online Quran Corner (“we”, “us”, or “our”). We operate https://onlinequrancorner.com/ (the “Service”). This online Quran learning academy teaches children, teenagers, and adults through live one-to-one video classes, scheduled over WhatsApp and taught on Zoom, Google Meet, or MS Teams, with a focus on UK-based families.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you and, where a child is enrolled, your child have over it. Because a significant part of what we do involves teaching children, this policy is written to reflect the standards of the UK’s Age Appropriate Design Code (the “Children’s Code”), alongside the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 (“DPA 2018”).

By using our Service, including booking a free trial, enrolling in a course, or messaging us on WhatsApp or by email, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. Where you are a parent or guardian booking or managing classes on behalf of a child, you are agreeing on that child’s behalf as well as your own.

If you believe a child has provided us with information directly and without a parent or guardian’s involvement, please contact us at info@onlinequrancorner.com and we will remove it.

16. Safeguarding and Child Protection

Many of our students are children, so keeping them safe during online lessons is built into how every class runs. This section explains how we check tutors, how lessons are run and what to do if you have a concern.

How we check our tutors

  • Before teaching any student, every tutor goes through identity verification and reference checks.
  • Each tutor’s Ijazah or teaching certificate is checked against the original documents from the issuing institution.
  • Every new tutor completes onboarding covering lesson procedures, communication with students and the standards expected in online sessions.
  • Our tutors are based outside the UK, so they are not checked through the UK’s Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is why we publish each tutor’s qualifications on our Instructors page and keep parents involved in every lesson.

How lessons are run

  • All classes are live one-to-one video lessons on Zoom, Google Meet or MS Teams: client to confirm which.
  • Parents and guardians are welcome to sit in on any lesson at any time.
  • You can request a female or male tutor, and the same tutor teaches your child throughout, with a substitute from our team only if they are unavailable.
  • Tutors contact families only through the parent’s or guardian’s details, and children never need their own account or phone number.
  • Tutors do not ask children for personal information, photos, or social media contacts.

Class recordings

  • Classes are recorded.
  • Parents can ask for a copy of their child’s recordings at any time.
  • Our team reviews recordings to check teaching quality and make sure every class is run properly.
  • Recordings are kept for one month and then deleted, unless needed for longer to look into a concern.

Reporting a concern

  • If anything in a lesson worries you or your child, contact our safeguarding contact, Hafiz Muhammad Abid, Founder, at info@onlinequrancorner.com or by phone or WhatsApp on +44 7348 540897.
  • We will respond within 24 hours, and, if needed, the tutor will pause teaching while we review the concern.
  • If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 999. For confidential advice, you can contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000.
